Texas A&M softball has held steady in the rankings so far this season.
National preseason rankings had the Aggies (31-5, 6-3) at No. 7 and in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association poll released Monday the Aggies have climbed to No. 4. The previous week, A&M was 5-0 sweeping a weekend series against Loyola Marymount and single weekday games against Sam Houston and North Texas.
For the second week in a row, the Texas Longhorns stayed at No. 1.
The Aggies have been posting big numbers thanks to sophomore first baseman Mya Perez's batting 14-of-22 at home and .571 on-base percentage. Infielder Kennedy Powell leads the team in stolen bases (15) and hits (44). But the weekend pitching has performed just as well, with senior Emiley Kennedy leading the way at 75 strikeouts so far this season.
The Aggies play Wednesday night against Prairie View A&M before a weekend series against Georgia in Athens, Ga.
