SEC softball power rankings: Can LSU, Florida or Texas A&M contend for league title?

The SEC softball picture continues to become clearer as several teams reached the halfway points of their conference slate last weekend.

The biggest series of the weekend happened in Norman, Oklahoma, where Tennessee won two of three to take the series over the Sooners.

It was just the second conference series the Sooners have lost at home since the start of the 2012 season. The other came at the end of last season when Oklahoma State won two of three in Norman.

Here are this week’s SEC softball power rankings:

1. Texas

Record: 34-3, 7-2 SEC

Last week: 1

After going hitless in the series-opening 4-3 loss to Mississippi State, Kayden Henry and Mia Scott combined to go 7 for 14 with nine RBIs and five runs scored over the last two games of the series — helping lift the Longhorns to a series win.

2. Oklahoma

Record: 31-3, 9-3 SEC

Last week: 2

The Sooners dropped their first SEC series to Tennessee, but Kasidi Pickering remains on fire. The sophomore is on a 10-game hitting streak and went a combined 7 for 8 against the Lady Vols, reaching base in 15 consecutive plate appearances before striking out looking in the fifth inning of Sunday’s 5-3 loss.

Oklahoma's Kasidi Pickering (7) hits a home run in the fourth inning of a college softball game between the University of Oklahoma (OU) and Tulsa at Love's Field in Norman, Okla., Saturday, Feb. 22, 2025.
