Texas A&M (14-14) gets back to .500 after run-ruling Incarnate Word (13-18) 21-1 at Blue Bell Park for their fifth straight midweek win.
The Aggies demonstrated dominance in this NCAA baseball showdown, delivering a performance that left fans in awe. Jace LaViolette emerged as the game's star, blasting two home runs, including a grand slam, and racking up a remarkable seven RBIs. Blake Binderup made his mark early with a three-run homer and contributed further with a sacrifice fly to bring in additional runs. Ben Royo added to the excitement with a home run over the left-center wall, producing three of the Aggies’ staggering 11 runs in the third inning.
The Aggies capitalized on several defensive mistakes by the Cardinals, including consecutive walks and wild pitches, extending their lead. Hayden Schott and Hayden Crites played pivotal roles, while Jacob Galloway and Terrence Kiel added crucial runs with timely hits.
The Aggies' pitchers were equally outstanding, as Gavin Lyons, Jackson Brasseux, and Grant Cunningham effectively shut down Incarnate Word’s offense. Lyons, in particular, secured his second win of the season, allowing just one hit and striking out two batters over four innings.
Texas A&M will host Kentucky starting Friday, March 28, at 6:00 p.m. CT. The game will be streamed on SEC Network+.
