Texas A&M has risen 40 spots in the latest RPI rankings after defeating No. 1 Tennessee

Texas A&M (16-15, 3-9 SEC) pulled off the unthinkable amid what felt like a lost season after defeating No .1 Tennessee in Saturday's doubleheader to win the series, which is the Aggies' first of the season. In an utterly dominant fashion, A&M's bats erupted in both games, scoring 26 runs and hitting 11 home runs, including seven in Saturday night's penultimate matchup.

Remember that the Aggies were shut out and held hitless in Game 1 on Friday, looking lifeless after winning 21-1 on Tuesday night against UIW. However, this was just a blip in the radar, and as we all know, baseball is a mental game, and it was just about time before A&M's talented batting lineup, which includes Jace LaViolette, Wyatt Henseler, Caden Sorrell, and Bear Harrison who all hit home runs in both games.

With the win, Texas A&M rose a notable 40 spots in the latest RPI rankings to 68th nationally, providing the Aggies a glimmer of hope if the wins keep coming in SEC play, with South Carolina arriving in Blue Bell Park this weekend. First, a midweek home matchup vs. Sam Houston comes next, proving that this team has improved with everything on the line moving forward.

Still, for Aggie fans and those of us who cover the program professionally, this team has something to play for again, so it's up to the preseason No. 1-ranked team to finally live up to its potential.
