Texas A&M baseball's Jace LaViolette passes Daylon Holt for Aggies career home run record

In his first at-bat in the 26th game of the season, Jace LaViolette officially becomes Texas A&M baseball's all-time leading home run hitter.

A record set by Aggies legend Daylon Holt that has stood since 2001, when Holt hit 56 career home runs, including 34 in the 1999 season, has now fallen. LaViolette stepped to the plate against Kentucky in the first inning and blasted a shot to right field to capture the 57th home run of his career.

LaViolette tied the record March 20 against Vanderbilt and sits alone at the top six games later at Blue Bell Park.

Entering 2024, LaViolette was named Preseason Player of the Year by Baseball America. Last season, he had a .305 batting average, with 29 home runs and 78 RBIs.

The Katy product is rated as the No. 1 2025 Collegiate Prospect per Baseball America, D1Baseball and MLB Pipeline and is ranked as the No. 2 Overall Prospect for the 2025 MLB Draft per MLB Pipeline.

The record-setting shot is a rare bright spot in what was supposed to be a promising season.

The Aggies, the No. 1 team in the country coming into the season, is 13-12 with a 1-6 start to conference play. LaViolette, coming into Saturday's game, was hitting .300 on the year.
