Tennessee Titans' Mike Borgonzi: We 'have to attack' the wide receiver position

There is no question that the Tennessee Titans will have to add to their wide receiver room before the start of the NFL season.

The lack of depth among the inexperienced receivers is eye-opening, with veteran Calvin Ridley and new acquisition Van Jefferson at the top. Even general manager Mike Borgonzi addressed this when he sat down with Jim Wyatt

“Wide receiver is a position we’re going to have to attack here, whether that’s through the draft, waiver claims,” Borgonzi said. “That’s one position we’re going to have to attack through training camp.”

With former first-round disappointment Treylon Burks not expected back until the start of the regular season and few young receivers on the roster, the Titans could look to bodies over what remains of free agency. A few viable veteran options are available, including Elijah Moore, Amari Cooper, Tyler Lockett, Keenan Allen, and Diontae Johnson. None of those would be considered long-term solutions, and varying issues could hold them back.

The Titans have been busy during the pre-draft process, meeting with receivers and have already scheduled multiple Top 30 visits with players such as Travis Hunter, Kyle Williams, and Dont’e Thornton. They could add more visits in the coming days, but none have been announced so far.

Tennessee has done a good job of attacking the offensive line this offseason. Still, without adding some weapons to the offense, the overall impact on offensive success for whoever plays quarterback will be minimal.
