Sherwood boys basketball falls in title game
COLLEGE PARK, Md. (DC News Now) — After an incredible season in the Maryland 3A, the Sherwood boys basketball team fell in the state title game to Baltimore City College Saturday, 70-61.
“We had a great season. There’s nothing to hang our heads about. I know these guys are sad, but they’re going remember this the rest of their life,” Sherwood boys basketball head coach Tom Sheahin said. “I love these guys. They’re going to be talking to each other and I guarantee ten years from now when one of these guys get married, they’ll probably all be at the wedding.”
Sherwood’s best run came in the second quarter, when they outscored City College 23-0 over the first seven minutes of the quarter. Sherwood led 37-23 at halftime.
Despite the struggles in the second half, Sherwood was in it down to the final minutes. Khalil Wilson led Sherwood with 17 points, adding six assists, five rebounds and five steals.
“We play very well together, all of us played for the same AAU team so we’re used to playing with each other, our bonds have been really tight before the season even started,” Wilson, who will play college football at Stonehill college next season, said. “These are my brothers for life, no matter what the outcome of this game was, we’re gonna be straight. Jamar [Nix] being a sophomore, I feel like he could bring this team back here.”
