Saints stunned by new Derek Carr injury report, two weeks before 2025 draft

You can't script this stuff. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport broke the news Friday afternoon that New Orleans Saints quarterback Derek Carr is "now dealing with a shoulder injury that threatens his availability for this season," adding that "Carr is weighing options, including the possibility of surgery."

Carr has dealt with serious injuries in each of his three years in New Orleans. His 2023 season was derailed by concussions. In 2024, he missed time with an oblique muscle issue and a broken bone in his throwing hand. Now, in 2025, an offseason shoulder injury is threatening to put him on ice before the team even gathers for spring training.

This is a new development just two weeks out from the 2025 draft, so it remains to be seen how it impacts the Saints' plans. They've done a lot of homework on this draft class and seemed prepared to pick a QB if the value was there. Now it becomes an immediate need. Stay tuned for updates.
