Iowa City Liberty boys soccer player Roman Riggs and Iowa City High girls track runner Abigail Burns were voted by readers as the Iowa City Press-Citizen's Athletes of the Week for March 31-April 6.
Riggs was voted boys Athlete of the Week with 54% of the vote. Iowa City High soccer player Jackson Nichols-Lindsey placed second with 44% of the vote.
Riggs didn't take long to make an impact during the opening week of action for Liberty soccer. He scored two goals against Muscatine before scoring twice against Waukee on April 5.
Burns earned girls Athlete of the Week with 50% of the vote. Iowa City Regina soccer player Reese Litton earned second place with 36% of the vote.
Burns earned second place in the 400 meters at the Spartan Girls Invitational on April 3. The junior Little Hawk recorded a time of 1:00.10.
