Should the Houston Texans target a lineman early in the NFL draft, they'll have to grab a receiver on Day 2. Most fans would love nothing more than to see Texas star Matthew Golden return home as the new No. 2 option.
Another Longhorns pass-catcher could be in play in Round 3.
According to KPRC2 Sports' Aaron Wilson, Texas wide receiver Isaiah Bond met with the Texans via Zoom following the NFL combine and ahead of the Longhorns' Pro Day. The speedy target also has in-person visits lined up with the Cleveland Browns, Green Bay Packers, Kansas City Chiefs, Buffalo Bills and Tennessee Titans.
Bond, a native of Georgia, also will meet with the Atlanta Falcons at their local prospect day, but it won't go against their top-30 visits. Since Bond didn't formally come into the Texans' building, that also won't count as a top-30 visit.
While Bond failed to meet his pre-combine goal of surpassing former Longhorns receiver Xavier Worthy's 4.21 record-setting 40-time, he still impressed during the Longhorns' Pro Day. Bond ran the 40-yard dash in 4.34 and 4.35 seconds, .4 seconds faster than his time at the NFL scouting combine. He also didn’t drop any passes and excelled in route-running.
