Report: Roma closing in on Stefano Pioli

The latest report by La Repubblica claims Roma are nearing the appointment of Stefano Pioli as their next head coach.

After an unfortunate spell in Saudi Arabia, the Italian coach has jumped to the top of the list of candidates to lead the Giallorossi next season.

According to the newspaper, there would have already been direct contact between the parties.

Pioli expressed appreciation for Roma’s sporting project and for the prospect of being able to start again in Italy’s top flight.

Roma, who have been casting for some time with a list of 3-4 names – as confirmed by Ranieri himself – now seem to be firmly oriented towards Pioli, also in light of the noes received from other profiles (Emery and Fabregas above all).

Outsiders like Patrick Vieira, appreciated by Ghisolfi for his time at Nice and now at Genoa, are still in the running, but the impression is that the choice has been made.

The Friedkins want to appoint the new manager before the end of the season, to immediately send a strong signal to the club and plan the next transfer market in the best possible way.
