Report: Ohio State RB Quinshon Judkins expected to visit Texans ahead of NFL Draft

Running back might not be a top need for the Houston Texans, but adding at least one runner in a loaded class could serve as a long-term ploy for Nick Caley's new offense.

A former national champion will soon stop by to visit NRG Stadium and could be in play for the Texans on Day 2.

According to KPRC2 Sports' Aaron Wilson, Ohio State standout running back Quinshon Judkins has a visit with the Texans following his visit with the Dallas Cowboys this weekend. Judkins also has visits set up with the Cleveland Browns, Denver Broncos, New York Giants and the Cincinnati Bengals.

A former freshman All-American and All-Southeastern Conference selection, Judkins was a third-team All-Big Ten Conference selection during his lone season with the Buckeyes. He rushed for 1,060 yards and 14 touchdowns. he caught 22 passes for 161 yards and two scores for Ohio State's offense while splitting reps with TreVeyon Henderson.

A native of Pike Road, Ala., Judkins started his career at Ole Miss, where he broke the school's freshman rushing record in both yards (1,567) and touchdowns (16) in 2022. As a sophomore, he rushed for 1,158 yards and 15 touchdowns, helping the Rebels pick up their first 11-win season in program history.

The Texans should feel content with Pro Bowl running back Joe Mixon serving as the leading rusher, but every team needs a second punch. Dameon Pierce and Dare Ogunbowale are in contract years and have really only been change-of-pace players.

Entering the final stages of the draft, Judkins is expected to be a second-round pick.
