Move over Jaxson Dart, Jalen Milroe is the fastest rising quarterback in the 2025 NFL draft.
The New Orleans Saints havebeen connected to both prospects, and picking them in the second round or trading back into the first round are plausible possibilities for both quarterbacks. Milroe went from barely being discussed in the class as a whole to being thrown into first round conversations. The Alabama product stepped into the season with high stock, but a disappointing end to 2024 lowered the opinion of him in some eyes. His potential rise or possible overstated fall represents the ebbs and flows of the draft cycle.
Teams are seeing the positive traits that had many intrigued a year ago. FOX Sports’ Jordan Schultz reported at least one scout feels "ceiling is too high to ignore." That’s an opinion that’s likely shared by multiple teams. Milroe is a highly athletic quarterback who still needs development as a passer. That required development keeps him out of the first half of the NFL draft, but Schultz wrote, “several teams believe he's worth a pick somewhere in the 20-50 range due to his upside.”
That range sets up Milroe to sit behind a veteran quarterback for a year. That hypothetical pairs high upside with a patient situation conducive to development.
