Right-handed pitcher Ty Floyd, ranked No. 17 by MLB Pipeline among the Cincinnati Reds' top prospects, struck out six batters in three innings of work Friday for the Low-A Daytona Tortugas in their 15-10 win against the Clearwater Threshers.
The only hit the 23-year-old Floyd allowed was a solo home run by Phillies top catching prospect Eduardo Tait.
It was Floyd's second professional start. A first-round pick (38th overall) of the Reds in the 2023 MLB draft, Floyd missed the entire 2024 season after undergoing shoulder surgery.
Floyd played for the LSU Tigers for three seasons. He pitched in relief as a freshman, but started 27 of the 35 games in which he appeared the following two seasons.
Floyd struck out a record 17 batters in Game 1 of the College World Series final against Florida.
