PITT 8 PREVIEW: Panthers eying first win in conference tournament

The Pittsburg Panthers have been met with some tough competition this season, but they are looking to turn their season around, starting with a run in this year’s Pitt 8 Tournament.

Eight seed Pittsburg (0-5, 0-5 Pitt 8) did not participate in last year’s tournament and will take on top seed Stuart for the second time this season in the tournament’s opening round. The Panthers faced the No. 3 Hornets on March 24, falling 15-0 while junior Mason Coxsey registered their lone hit.

Coxsey has been a solid piece in center field throughout the season and in Pittsburg’s 20-8 loss to Canadian on March 27, racked up one hit and a season-high three RBI.

The Panthers will begin their Pitt 8 Tournament run with a rematch against the Hornets at 11 a.m. Thursday at Haileyville.
