Trying to repeat history, the No. 3 Stuart Hornets will look to continue their dominance on the Pitt 8 Tournament stage.
The Hornets (6-0, 2-0 Pitt 8) enter the tournament as the top seed for the second consecutive year and will look to win back-to-back championships after edging out Kiowa 2-1 in the 2024 finals.
Stuart, who was a state tournament semifinalist in the fall, remains undefeated and is outscoring opponents 67-5. The Hornets have conference wins over Haileyville and first-round opponent in eighth-seeded Pittsburg.
In their last matchup against the Panthers on March 24, a three-run home run from junior third baseman Dallin Whitaker helped the Hornets score 13 runs in the second inning as they won, 15-0. Stuart also hasn’t lost to Pittsburg since the opening round of the 2017 Pitt 8 Tournament.
The Hornets will begin their Pitt 8 Tournament run with a rematch against the Panthers at 11 a.m. Thursday at Haileyville.
