Pacers' Tyrese Haliburton questionable again with low back soreness
INDIANAPOLIS -- Pacers All-Star point guard Tyrese Haliburton is still listed as questionable for Thursday's 7 p.m. home game against the Nets after missing the last two games with a sore lower back.
Pacers coach Rick Carlisle said before Wednesday's win against the Mavericks that Haliburton is making progress after an awkward fall in Saturday's game against the Bucks in Milwaukee but that he still wasn't ready to go in Wednesday's game. The Pacers will be hoping another 24 hours is enough to get him back in the lineup.
The Pacers' injury report is otherwise clean except for center Isaiah Jackson, who is likely out for the season with an Achilles tendon tear suffered on Nov. 1. The Pacers beat the Timberwolves Monday without four starters with Haliburton, All-Star forward Pascal Siakam (personal reasons), forward Aaron Nesmith (left ankle injury management) and center Myles Turner (left hip contusion) all out. Siakam, Nesmith and Turner all returned on Wednesday and are now off the injury report. Rookie wing Johnny Furphy also missed two games with an illness and forward Jarace Walker was listed as questionable for Wednesday's game against the Mavericks but was ruled available and played. All of those players have cycled off the injury report.
Haliburton is averaging 18.5 points and 9.0 assists per game this season and has been exceptional in the game's he's played since the All-Star break. In his 10 games since he's averaging 21.9 points per game on 56% shooting including 48.6% 3-point shooting and 11.9 assists and 2.6 steals per game against just 1.0 turnovers per game. Haliburton missed just one game prior to the All-Star break but he's missed five games since, three with a left hip flexor strain and two with the back. The Pacers lost each of the first three games but have won the last two.
The Nets will be without forward Cameron Johnson, who is missing the game for rest purposes. Guard De'Anthony Melton (ACL tear) and forward Cameron Thomas (left hamstring strain) are out for the season.
