O'Gorman looks to close out perfect season with a state Class AA girls hoops championship
RAPID CITY — Top-seeded O'Gorman and second-seeded Brandon Valley will meet for the championship in the South Dakota state Class AA girls basketball tournament on Saturday.
The Knights and the Lynx each won semifinal games Friday night at The Momunment in Rapid City and will square off at about 8:45 p.m. Central time on Saturday.
Pierre and Sioux Falls Jefferson play for seventh place at 1 p.m. Saturday, followed by the consolation championship between Speafish and Mitchell at 2:45 p.m. and third-place game between Rapid City Stevens and Sioux Falls Washington at 7 p.m.
Friday's Games
Semifinal (Brandon Valley xx, SF Washington xx) — Alyvia Padgett's 30-point outburst carried Brandon Valley into the finals. Evie Hoff added 12 points and Gracie Salter 11 and seven rebounds.
Grace Peterson and Rylan Kennett each tallied 16 points and Dana Harpe 11 for Washington. Harpe and Peterson each snared eight rebounds.
Semifinal (O'Gorman 58, Rapid City Stevens 31) — O'Gorman rolled into the championship behind Julia Eggert's 21 points and seven rebounds. Sydney Terveen added 14 points and six rebounds and Ruby Moore 13 points.
Stevens received 14 points and eight rebounds from Taaliyah Porter.
Consolation Semifinal (Spearfish 61, SF Jefferson 54) — Mya Kochuten's 26 points and six rebounds led Spearfish. Jozie Dana added 13 points, Averie Kirk nine points and seven rebounds and Kate Scharf nine rebounds.
Abby Horner poured in 24 points for Jefferson. Brinley Altenburg contributed eight.

Consolation Semifinal (Mitchell 48, Pierre 38) — Mitchell won the battle of Eastern South Dakota Conference foes by getting 17 points from Addie Siemsen and 14 points and nine rebounds from Londyn Hajek.
