NFL Insider: Tennessee Titans' decision on first overall draft pick not set in stone
The Tennessee Titans have the first overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft. After winning just three games in 2024, they desperately need to draft well this year to have any kind of success.
That is why they are taking their evaluation process very seriously, and despite the rumors swirling that they are going to select Miami quarterback Cam Ward with the top pick, NFL Insider Ian Rapoport says the Titans haven't actually decided anything yet.

"Cam Ward should be confident," Rapoport says. "Now, first of all, as far as where he slots in compared to the other quarterbacks, compared to the other top prospects, it does seem to me based on the people I've spoken with, and this is obviously not a surprise, that it is looking increasingly likely that Cam Wars is the No. 1 overall pick.
"It is not done; people are done with their evaluations, and we don't even know what team is going to pick No. 1, but it certainly seems the most likely scenario is that Cam Ward is No. 1.
"As far as the Tennessee Titans go, my understanding, despite the fact they haven't signed a veteran quarterback yet -- still need one and do not yet have an entrenched starter -- haven't made the firm and final decision that they are making the pick. They are still going through the evaluation process."
Rapoport discusses parts of the evaluation process that will include private workouts with both Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders over the next two weeks or so. All of these things are part of the process for the Titans to evaluate where they are and what they want to do with that first pick, whether they trade it or keep it.
"To me, it seems likely, as of now, make the pick, but certainly, they are not done with that decision," he concludes.
Ward has separated himself from the rest of the quarterback draft class, but the Titans could decide to trade back and pick up Abdul Carter instead. It's really going to depend on what they see from him on film, how he meshes with the rest of the locker room, how the staff feels about how coachable he is, and how long he will take to develop into a professional football player.
There are a multitude of factors that go into deciding which players to bring in, which is why the Titans are taking their time and carefully evaluating the incoming talent.
