NFL free agency: Browns sign WR DeAndre Carter to one-year deal
The Cleveland Browns have made another addition to their roster in NFL free agency, signing wide receiver and return specialist DeAndre Carter.
This is a one-year deal for the return specialist and the third attempt for the Browns to find a specialist who can actually find the football field. The Browns made an effort to sign the best return specialist in the NFL three years ago, inking Jakeem Grant to a two-year deal. However, he never took a regular season snap for the Browns after suffering a ruptured Achilles and torn ACL in back-to-back seasons. They then went out and added Nyheim Hines in free agency a year ago, but Hines never came off of PUP after suffering a torn ACL over a year before in a jetski accident.
The 5-foot-8 and 190-pound wide receiver has one career kick return touchdown and had a long of 67 yards a year ago. He averaged 32 yards per return for the Chicago Bears in 2024. Before that, Carter has bounced around from the Philadelphia Eagles to the Houston Texans, to the Bears, to Washington, to the Los Angeles Chargers, and to the Las Vegas Raiders, before signing back with the Bears a year ago.
Did the Browns finally hit on a return specialist with Carter?
