NFL free agency: Browns long snapper Charley Hughlett signs with Eagles
After his release from the Cleveland Browns, long-time long snapper Charley Hughlett has landed a one-year deal with the Philadelphia Eagles.
Hughlett was a mainstay in Cleveland for a decade, tying offensive guard Joel Bitonio as the longest-tenured member of the team. Bitonio now has the outright claim to that title after announcing he will return to the team for his 12th NFL season after contemplating retirement this offseason.
The long snapper suffered through injuries a year ago that caused him to be placed on Injured Reserve for most of the season. This led to the Browns signing local long snapper Rex Sunahara to the active roster to take over Hughlett's duties. Getting younger and cheaper at the position, the Browns were impressed enough by Sunahara to keep him around in 2025. This led to the departure of Hughlett.
The 12-year veteran will receive a $1.422 million salary from the Eagles in 2025 with $467,000 of that money guaranteed to him.
