The New York Giants effectively ended their dalliance with Aaron Rodgers on Tuesday with the addition of veteran Russell Wilson on a one-year deal that could be worth up to $21 million.
The Giants now have three experienced players in their quarterback room: Wilson, Jameis Winston, and Tommy DeVito. With Miami's Cam Ward nailing his pro day on Monday and basically sewing up the top spot in the draft, the Giants suddenly are not as desperate to add a young quarterback with the No. 3 overall pick.
But that won't preclude them from adding a young developmental player in the upcoming NFL draft. That player could be Colorado's Shedeur Sanders, once thought to have fallen off the Giants' radar.
Russell Wilson will be the Giants QB next season

Even after signing Wilson, Shedeur Sanders is "definitely" still in play for NYG in the draft @NYPost_Schwartzpic.twitter.com/YQfR1T165A
Ward is expected to go No. 1 now, either to the Tennessee Titans or whomever they trade that pick to. Cleveland is also said to be seeking to trade out. Don't expect the Giants to be the team trading up now. They'll likely wait their turn and see who falls. Sanders is a player who could do that. If so, they could pull the trigger.
So, now the big question becomes whether #Giants will draft a QB at No. 3. They will draft a QB. Big difference between PICK 3 and ROUND 2-3.

Brian Daboll typically gives zero reps to his third-string QB during the season. Is that going to be Jameis Winston or a rookie? Hard to…
With Wilson and Winston in the fold and DeVito as the emergency, there is no room for a rookie this year. The plan was to develop a rookie this season. There's no room to do that now unless they dump DeVito or carry three quarterbacks and send DeVito to the practice squad (or release him outright).
Both Wilson and Winston have boom or bust potential, though. This is a quick fix by a team that had its back against the wall. There was a slight possibility that Ward could fall to them at No. 3. There's little chance of that happening now after Monday. Either the Tennessee Titans will take Ward at No. 1, or a team will trade up ahead of the Giants to select him.
It is conceivable that the Giants may not take a quarterback at all in this draft. They can simply take the best football player that falls to them at No. 3 and perhaps position themselves for a move up for a quarterback in next year's draft.
But the rumors of Sanders and the Giants keep running hot.
General manager Joe Schoen and co-owner John Mara told the media earlier this year that quarterback was the team's top priority this offseason. It looks as if they weren't kidding. They may have overcorrected the problem, however. They have gone from an empty room to fairly crowded one that they may not be finished furnishing.
