Nets' Cam Johnson available Saturday at Pacers; D'Angelo Russell out
The Brooklyn Nets (23-47) had one of their most physical games of the 2024-25 NBA season on Thursday in their 105-99 overtime loss at the Indiana Pacers. Brooklyn came into the game without one of their best players in Cam Johnson as he was resting, but for a rematch between the teams on Saturday, Johnson will be back in the lineup after some needed time off.
The Nets announced on Friday that Johnson is available for Saturday's matchup at Indiana so it sounds like he didn't need more rest than the one game he received. With Brooklyn shooting just 35.6% from the field against the Pacers in a game that went to overtime, it's clear that Johnson's presence was missed in the rotation, especially on the offensive end of the floor.
Johnson, 29, has been one of the best players on the team since this season began thanks to his improvement in other areas like his dribble-drive game and playmaking in addition to still shooting well from three-point land on more shots. While Johnson will be back on the floor for Brooklyn when Saturday comes around, D'Angelo Russell will be in street clothes as he is experiencing soreness in his right ankle.
Russell gave all he could in Thursday's loss in Indiana as he put up 22 points and six assists in 32 minutes on the floor, but it seems like he may need some time off the floor to get himself right. He shot just 7-of-22 from the field, including 3-of-12 from three-point land as it appeared like he had trouble turning the corner and getting into the paint despite getting screens from Nic Claxton for most of the game.
Ziaire Williams, who has been having his best month of the season so far in March, is questionable for Saturday's game at the Pacers due to right hamstring tightness. Williams was Brooklyn's best player on Thursday as he dropped 22 points, five rebounds, and two steals in 35 minutes while being nearly-automatic from deep throughout a physical game.
Nets say that Ziaire Williams is QUESTIONABLE Saturday at the Pacers due to right hamstring tightness.
