MSU football makes top schools list for 3-star DE from Virginia

Michigan State football has cracked the top schools list for an edge rusher in the 2026 class.

The Spartans are one of six teams still in the running for three-star edge rusher Kamren Johnson of Virginia Beach, Va. Johnson released his top six schools list on Tuesday, with Michigan State, Virginia, Pitt, Delaware, Virginia Tech and Duke all making the list.

Johnson is listed as a three-star prospect on 247Sports. He holds a rating of 85 on the recruiting services' site.

Johnson ranks as the No. 83 edge rusher in 247Sports' composite rankings for the 2026 class. He is also listed as the No. 18 player from Virginia in the class.

Johnson holds scholarship offers from nearly 15 programs, according to 247Sports. Along with an offer from Michigan State, Johnson has offers from Charlotte, Delaware, Duke, East Carolina, James Madison, Liberty, Old Dominion, Temple, Toledo, UConn, Virginia, Virginia Tech and Western Kentucky.
