Mississippi State women's basketball starting center Madina Okot enters transfer portal

STARKVILLE — Mississippi State women's basketball starting center Madina Okot has entered the transfer portal, a team spokesperson told the Clarion Ledger on Friday.

It's a big loss for the Bulldogs and coach Sam Purcell, who are now slated to lose their top four scorers from this season's team that reached the NCAA tournament second round.

Okot joined MSU (22-12) this season from Kenya and broke out as a dominant post player. The 6-foot-6 center started all 34 games and averaged 11.3 points, 9.6 rebounds and 1.1 blocks per game.

She's the fourth Mississippi State player to enter the transfer portal, and it comes one day after starting guard/forward Debreasha Powe announced she's entered the portal.

Without Okot, Quanirah Montague could slide in as the starting center for Mississippi State as a rising senior. The Bulldogs signed two forwards in their 2025 recruiting class — Madison Francis and Nataliyah Gray — but they both aren't taller than 6-foot-3.

Mississippi State has received one commitment in the transfer portal so far from Ole Miss forward Kharyssa Richardson. The 6-foot-2 junior averaged 3.7 points in 10.0 minutes per game for the Rebels.

MSU's top two scorers, Jerkaila Jordan and Eniya Russell, are out of eligibility.
