Manchester United Confident of Keeping £70m Star Amid Contract Talks

Mainoo Focused on Long-Term Future at Old Trafford

Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo is understood to be open to signing a new contract, as the club look to secure the teenager’s long-term future amid rising interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs.

According to GiveMeSport, Mainoo remains committed to staying at Old Trafford and is fully focused on becoming a central figure in Manchester United’s midfield rebuild — even with interest from Real Madrid, Inter Milan, and Chelsea.

The 19-year-old, who has become one of United’s brightest prospects in an otherwise difficult period for the club, is not pushing for a move and is prioritising stability over Champions League football — for now.

Contract Talks Underway Amid Growing Interest

United are preparing a new deal for Mainoo, although negotiations are still in the early stages. The wage package is expected to be a focal point of discussions. While previous reports suggested an 80% pay rise to £180,000 per week, those figures are considered unrealistic, especially as the club continues restructuring its wage model.

Instead, sources indicate a proposal well above £100,000 per week is more likely, similar to the terms recently offered to Amad Diallo.

“There’s a belief internally that a new deal can be agreed,” one source told GiveMeSport, adding that United’s goal is to reflect Mainoo’s growing importance without disrupting their evolving wage structure.

No Plans to Sell, But Situation Still Fluid

Manchester United are not considering any sale of Mainoo at this time and would only change their stance if negotiations broke down entirely. With the England international valued at £70 million, the club understands his market appeal — but is equally aware of his symbolic value at Old Trafford.

As GiveMeSport put it, “Mainoo’s development has been one of the few bright spots during tough times at Old Trafford,” and his maturity on the ball has made him one of England’s most admired young players.
