Barcelona’s rising star, Guille Fernandez, has attracted significant attention from some of Europe’s biggest clubs, with several top teams keenly monitoring his situation at the Catalan club, claims a report from Mundo Deportivo

It must be noted that despite his obvious talent and being regularly called up to the first team this season, the young midfielder has yet to make his official debut for Barcelona.

This lack of opportunities at the senior level has left the 16-year-old’s future at the club hanging in the balance, and the prospect of a move away is becoming increasingly likely.

Interest in plenty

Barcelona have already been approached by several European heavyweights, including Porto, Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, and Manchester City

It is said that Porto, in particular, is reportedly keen to replicate the successful Nico Gonzalez formula.

The Portuguese club signed Nico for around €8 million, with Barcelona keeping a buy-back option that proved valuable when the midfielder moved to Manchester City in January.

Although Guille has made it clear that his preference is to stay at Barcelona, he is well aware of the club’s overbooking in his position.

With multiple established players in his role, it is clear that opportunities for first-team minutes will be hard to come by.

Sources close to the player indicate that Guille accepted less lucrative contract terms when he renewed his deal with Barcelona, believing that he would be given more chances to play at the highest level—a promise that has yet to materialize.

Problems at the club

The situation is complicated further by the struggles of Barça Atletic.

Currently, they face a tough battle against relegation in the First Division, and if they drop to the Second Division, Guille’s chances of playing regular senior football would diminish even further.

In such a case, a move away from Barcelona, either on loan or even a permanent transfer, could become a more appealing option.
