The Los Angeles Lakers can clinch the third seed in the Western Conference on Friday when they return home to host the Houston Rockets at Crypto.com Arena.
The Lakers have a 49-31 record after winning two games on a three-game road trip they just finished, and they have two regular-season games remaining. All they need is one more victory to lock in third place in the Western Conference going into the 2025 NBA Playoffs.
Houston, meanwhile, has already wrapped up the second seed with a 52-28 mark. It may end up resting at least one of its starters on Friday, just as it did in its loss to the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday, and that would open up the door to that one additional victory L.A. needs to clinch third place.
