Joe Mazzulla wins Coach of the Month honors after Celtics go 14-1 in March

Boston Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla was named the Eastern Conference Coach of the Month in March, the NBA announced Tuesday afternoon. Oklahoma City Thunderhead coach and Massachusetts native Mark Daigneault was named the top coach in the West.

Mazzulla and the Celtics went 14-1 for the month of March, one of the best stretches in team history. At the time of this writing, Boston is on a nine-game win streak despite injuries to Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, and other key guys in that time. After winning the award, Mazzulla is now second in franchise history. The 36-year-old has been named coach of the month four times since becoming head coach of the team back in the fall of 2022. Mazzulla trails Doc Rivers, who won the award six times.

The last time Mazzulla earned coach of the month honors was in March of 2024. According to Derrick White, Mazzulla shrugged off praise for the accomplishment, responding to any congratulations with his now-famous "nobody cares" quip.
