Jayson Tatum expresses gratitude for the city of Boston and Celtics fans loyalty

Throughout their storied history, the Boston Celtics are one of the most beloved franchises in NBA history. That has not been more apparent in recent history, especially following their championship season this past year. With superstars Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, and Kristaps Porzingis, combined with fan-favorites Jrue Holiday, Al Horford, Derrick White, and Payton Pritchard, the Celtics have plenty of highly regarded players to cheer for.

Holding a 31-7 record on the road this season, the Celtics have shown their dominance in enemy territory, and the fans have followed them throughout the country. During a recent appearance on the 'New Heights' podcast with Jason and Travis Kelce, Celtics superstar Jayson Tatum spoke about the team's passionate fanbase and how present they are each and every game, no matter when or where the game is happening.

"Before I got to Boston I didn't really pay attention or know much about the fanbase, I grew up a Lakers fan, I didn't like the Celtics." Tatum said. "I wasn't aware of the Boston sports culture. Whether it's a TNT game, a preseason game, or a league pass game on Monday, we always sell out. When we go out on the road, we hear 'Let's Go Celtics' chants throughout the arena. Our fans travel so well, they show up early and often. It was a relief and special moment to win a championship in front of them. Having two million people at the parade expressing their joy for what we accomplished, it was special for sure."

Although he grew up a Lakers fan and in St. Louis where being a Boston sports fan was out of question, Tatum has fully embraced the city, the organization, and the fans that surround them all. Winning will do that for teams, cities, and players, drawing them closer to the fanbase and seeing just how passionate they can be, but Boston just continues to show their loyalty game in and game out.
