Jalen Milroe accepting draft invite suggests the NFL is higher on him than we think

The conversation around the quarterbacks in the 2025 NFL draft have primarily centered around Cam Ward, Shedeur Sanders and Jaxson Dart. Ward has appears to have positioned himself as the first overall pick. Sanders potentially sliding out of the top-10 will be one of the most fascinating stories to track during the draft. Dart is speeding his way into the first round.

The New Orleans Saints have been connected to all of those quarterbacks. It may be time to include Jalen Milroe as a potential early selection with the Saints.

Through all of the chatter, Milroe has barely been discussed. Behind the scenes, he must be hearing good things because he accepted an invitation to the NFL draft, per The Athletic's Dane Brugler. This is important for two reasons. First off, being invited to the NFL draft is already exclusive and the expectation is there will be even fewer prospects invited this year. Milroe receiving an invite means the decision makers believe he has a chance of being drafted highly.

The quarterback's decision to accept the invitation suggests he feels the same way. The lack of conversation surrounding him creates the aura of an after thought or late Day 2 pick. Showing up to the draft doesn't make him a first rounder, but it would indicate Milroe thinks he can hear his name called in the first two rounds.

With the amount of quarterback-needy teams in the top of the second round, it makes sense Milroe is high on his chances. It can be assumed he's also garnering enough interest from teams to feel confident. While this shouldn't be taken as a concrete report Milroe will be a top-50 selection, it is certainly something to pay attention to.
