Report: 2025 draft QB Jalen Milroe had 'impressive' private workout with Saints

Now this is interesting. The New Orleans Saints had an "impressive" private workout with Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe recently, per Fox Sports' Jordan Schultz, who adds that Milroe also threw for the Cleveland Browns while meeting with the New York Jets and Pittsburgh Steelers.

When could he be in play in the 2025 draft? Milroe accepted an invitation to attend the event in Green Bay so he obviously expects to be drafted in the first round. He would be a good value pick at No. 40 in the second round but that suggests he won't be available so late in the draft. Depending on who you ask, Milroe is the second-, third-, or fourth-best quarterback in this draft class behind Cam Ward (Miami). Opinions are split on how to stack up Shedeur Sanders (Colorado) and Jaxson Dart (Ole Miss) with Milroe still in the mix.

Milroe threw for 6,016 yards and 45 touchdowns in his 38-game Alabama career; he also impressed as a runner with 1,577 rushing yards and 33 more touchdowns on the ground, but he was intercepted 20 times, too. He has plenty of room to develop and the Saints could give him a great opportunity to do so with Derek Carr on top of the depth chart this season. Let all of the former quarterbacks on their roster (not just head coach Kellen Moore but offensive coordinator Doug Nussmeier and QB coach Scott Tolzien, too) help him develop into the best player he can be and compete for the starting job next year, either with Spencer Rattler pushing him or another quarterback Moore sees as a fit for his offense. It makes for the Saints to show interest in Milroe. We'll find out soon just how strongly they value what he offers.
