Iowa State PG Keshon Gilbert will miss March Madness game vs Lipscomb
Lipscomb basketball, a No. 14 seed in the NCAA tournament, can use all the help it can get against No. 3 seed Iowa State, and news that the Cyclones will be without second-leading scorer Keshon Gilbert may play right into the Bisons' hands.
Gilbert, who averages 13.4 points and a team-high 4.1 assists, was ruled out for the NCAA tournament Sunday by coach T.J. Otzelberger due to a strained groin.
Lipscomb (25-9) and Iowa State (24-9) play at 12:30 p.m. (CST) Friday in Milwaukee in the South Region.
Gilbert, an All-Big 12 third-team selection, is a 6-foot-4 senior transfer from UNLV. He also averaged 3.5 rebounds and 1.7 steals in 28 starts.
Otzelberger also delivered some good news for the Cyclones. He said Tamin Lipsey, a junior guard from Ames, Iowa, who suffered a groin injury in a game against Cincinnati in the second round of the Big 12 Tournament, will likely be able to play against Lipscomb.

Has Iowa State and Lipscomb ever played?
Friday's game will be the second between Iowa State and Lipscomb.
The two teams first met on Dec. 21, 2011 when the Cyclones claimed an 81-64 victory in Ames.
Jordan Burgason led the Bisons with 30 points in that game.
