Injuries to Cuevas, Pritchett make Alabama football's thinnest spring position even thinner

Alabama football's thinnest position for spring practice has gotten even thinner as the Crimson Tide approaches the annual A-Day spring finale next weekend.

UA's top tight end, Josh Cuevas, will miss the remainder of the spring due to an injury, per coach Kalen DeBoer. Also out for the spring is freshman tight end Marshall Pritchett.

"We're battling through a couple injuries at one position in particular, tight end," DeBoer said following the Crimson Tide's second spring scrimmage. "... Josh Cuevas, he'll be good for the fall, but he'll be done for the rest of spring, then (also) Marshall Pritchett."

Veteran tight end Danny Lewis Jr. is also out for the spring due to injury, and incoming freshman Kalen Edwards won't enroll until summer. That leaves Jay Lindsey as UA's top healthy player at the position this spring, and a cast of lesser-knowns behind him.

Alabama's top two tight ends from last season, Robbie Ouzts and C.J. Dippre, are NFL draft prospects who could be selected later this month. Cuevas, until his recent injury, was the on-field leader in the tight end room as a veteran who transferred from Washington in 2024 and caught 16 passes for UA last year.
