Chillicothe, Unioto, Huntington and Waverly had strong showings at meets on Saturday at Ironton and Nelsonville-York.
In baseball, Zane Trace held off a Chillicothe team looking for a comeback win.
Here are the highlights from Friday and Saturday events:
Track
72nd Annual Ironton Track and Field Invitational
Huntington’s Rachel Lute and Hayden Magill finished first and second in the girls 800-meter run to lead the Huntsmen. Lute had a time of 2:37.06, and Magill finished at 2:47.54.
The girls 4x200 relay finished first at 2:01.08, and their 4x400 also was first with a time of 4:43.13.
Magill was first in the pole vault with a mark of 7-6. Hayleigh Donahue finished second in the high jump with a mark of 4-2.
Madelyn Smith was third in the discus with a mark of 91-5. She was also second in the shot put with a mark of 31-3.

Rocky Brand Track and Field Invitational at Nelsonville-York
Chillicothe’s Karter Williams was first in the high jump at 6-6.
Chillicothe’s Jayden Beverly was second in the large school 400 (:50.88).
In the 1600, Unioto’s Ethan Purtee was second in 4:40.5, and Chillicothe’s Daniell Hurff was third with a time of 4:41.0. Liam Lynch of Unioto was fourth at 4:42.2.
In the 3200, Unioto’s Caleb Caplinger was third at 10:06.3. Waverly’s Jeremiah Miller was fifth at 10:11.5.
In the 4x100 meter relay, Chillicothe’s team was fifth in :45.63. In the 4x200 meter relay, Unioto was fourth at 1:35.1, and Chillicothe was fifth at 1:35.6.
In the 4x800 meter relay, Waverly was first at 8:27.3. Chillicothe was fourth at 8:40.4.
Waverly’s Blayse Jones was third in the long jump at 19-9 1/2.
Unioto’s Levi Beam was third in the pole vault at 13-0.
Bryce Jarvis, of Unioto, was fifth in the shot put at 45-8 1/2.
On the girls’ side, Chillicothe’s Kiera Archer was first in the 100 (:12.91); Unioto’s Grace McBee was third with a time of :13.36.
Archer was also first in the 200 in :26.19 and first in the 400 in 1:00.2.
In the 800, Unioto’s Alexa West was third at 2:27.1.
In the 1600, Chillicothe’s Gabby Maranzana was third at 5:22.8, and West was fourth at 5:23.2.
Unioto’s Ava Fyffe was fifth at 12:24.24 in the 3,200.
In the 300 hurdles, Unioto’s Adeline Lloyd was fourth at :50.59.
Unioto’s 4x100 relay team was third with a time of 53.29.
In the 4x800 relay, Chillicothe’s team was third at 10:31.2, and Unioto was fourth at 10:41.9.
Taylor Hardiesty, of Chillicothe, was first in the high jump at 5-0.
Unioto’s Grace McBee was fifth in the long jump at 15-0.
Unioto’s Makinley Haynes was second in the shot put at 34-1.

Zane Trace 9, Chillicothe 8: The Cavaliers scored six runs in the bottom of sixth inning but couldn’t overcome the damage already done by the Pioneers in nonleague action at VA Memorial Stadium.
Zane Trace got on the board in the first with three runs and knocked in five more in the sixth before Chillicothe scored. Coen Larson led the Pioneers going 2-of-3 with three runs, an RBI and a stolen base. Landen Jarrell was 1-of-3 with two runs, an RBI and a stolen base.
