Georgia named as possible transfer destination for Indiana basketball's leading scorer
After making their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2015 and securing 20 wins in a season, the Georgia Bulldogs' season ended in the Round of 64 against Gonzaga. Georgia basketball coach Mike White and his team are now shifting their focus to the challenges and opportunities of the 2025-26 season.
Though still in the early stages, Georgia is emerging as a potential destination for Indiana Hoosiers transfer forward Malik Reneau. Indiana head coach Mike Woodson's resignation prompted several Hoosiers to enter the transfer portal including Reneau, who was Indiana's leading scorer last season. 247Sports' Travis Branham has identified the Georgia Bulldogs as a team to watch.
"(Reneau) is one I do not anticipate returning back to Bloomington," Branham said. "The school I am looking at the closest right now is the Georgia Bulldogs. Mike White and his staff recruited Malik heavily out of high school back at Florida and actually got his commitment during the high school recruiting phase, but then obviously Mike White and his staff moved to Georgia, but Malik found his way back to Indiana. They have an extremely strong relationship with Malik and his family so right now that's where I am keeping an eye on."
Georgia star forward Asa Newell is likely declaring for the 2025 NBA draft and UGA has several other players reaching their eligibility limits, so Georgia is actively rebuilding its roster. Mike White is adding three players from the 2025 recruiting class and seeking additional talent through the transfer portal.
A key target is Indiana's Reneau, a junior forward who has started for the past two seasons, averaging 13.3 points and 5.5 rebounds while shooting 55.2% from the field.
