GC Softball: Kerens hammers Cayuga 14-4

BETHEL — The Kerens LadyCats were impressive on the road Tuesday in Bethel, where they defeated rival Cayuga 14-4 in five innings.

Rylee Spivey pitched the five-inning distance allowing three hits while striking out eight, and she was even better at the plate, where she went 3-for-5 with a double and a triple, scored three runs and drove in a run.

Peyton Priddy led off and set the tone, going 2-for-4 and scoring twice, Jayden Brumit went 2-for-3 and drove in two runs and Brooke Sikes went 2-for-4, scored and drove in two runs. Madison Dunham had a big day at the plate, going 2-for-3 and scoring three times, Blair Blue scored twice and drove in a run and Kayla Gonzales scored three times in the one-sided romp in which Kerens banged out 12 hits.

Kerens improved to 14-8-1 and 7-4 in the district race with the victory, and was scheduled to play Cayuga Friday at home to complete the two-game series.
