GC Baseball: Kerens downs rival Cayuga 21-1 in five innings

BETHEL — The Kerens Bobcats are in the home stretch of the regular season and are rolling along. Just look at what they did on the road this week against Cayuga in yet another one-sided romp, winning their eighth in a row with a five-inning Mercy Rule 21-1 victory Tuesday.

Krayton Ritchie had a mind-blowing performance at the plate, where he went 4-for-4 with a double-double (hitting a pair of doubles), scoring for runs and driving in six runs. Krayton also went the five-inning distance on the mound and struck out all 15 outs he needed in the game, allowing just two hits an no earned runs.

Kannon Ritchie went 2-for-3 with a home run and a double, scored four runs and drove in three runs, giving the Ritchie Twins a combined seven RBIs in seven at-bats.

The Bobcats pounded out 17 hits in the barrage at the plate. Andy Conklin went 4-for-5 with two doubles, scored three runs and drove in two runs. JJ Hightower went 2-for-3, scored and drove in two runs, Matt Rickard went 2-for-2 with two RBIs, Alex Cobb went 1-for-4, scored twice and drove in a run and Lionel Escobedo went 1-for-4, scored and drove in a run.

Kerens, which plays Cayuga at home Friday, is now 7-0 in district play and 12-2 for the season.
