Hamilton softball downs C-Falls

Apr. 12—MISSOULA — Thea Jackson drove in three runs as Hamilton scored in five of the six innings and cruised to a 12-2 victory over Columbia Falls in high school softball Friday at the University of Montana softball field.

The Wildkats' (1-4) runs came on Alexa Friske single in the third inning, a Broncs (4-3) error led to C Bedford and Friske coming home. The game ended after six innings due to the run rule.

Mariah Johnson went all six innings in the circle for Hamilton, striking out six and allowing three hits.

Columbia Falls is scheduled to take the diamond again Tuesday against Whitefish at 5 p.m.

Anaconda 8, Eureka 4

Anaconda 22, Eureka 14

ANACONDA — Brynn Coughlin struck out 14 batters in game one as Anaconda swept a doubleheader against Eureka.

Coughlin went the distance for the Copperheads (3-3), allowing four runs on four hits.

L McAfee led the offense for the Lions (0-5) with two hits and she crossed the plate once.

In game two, Eureka jumped out to a 7-2 lead after one inning, thanks in part to N McKim's two-run single.

The Copperheads took control late though as Jaelyn Zeren drove in two on a triple during a 6-run sixth inning. Zeren finished the game with three hits and four RBIs.

Troy 16, Deer Lodge 0

DEER LODGE — Leslie Gravier picked up nine RBIs in a pair of victories as Troy continued its perfect start to the season with a doubleheader sweep.

In game one, Gravier doubled in the second inning bringing in a pair of runs to extend the Trojans (4-0) lead to 4-0.

She followed that up in her second at-bat of the third inning with another two-run double that capped off a 12-run frame and secured the victory.

In game two, Gravier hit a first-inning single and second-inning triple, both bringing in two runs each. Hailey Dungan added a pair of doubles.

Both games ended after three innings due to the mercy rule.
