Former Rangers center Filip Chytil has suffered another tough break.
Vancouver Canucks head coach Rick Tocchet told reporters Tuesday that the “odds are against” the youngster returning to the lineup this season as he continues having good and bad days in his recovery from a concussion.
Chytil has missed the past eight games and he remains in concussion protocol since suffering the head injury on an unpenalized hit from behind from Chicago’s Jason Dickinson late in the third period of a game last month.
Certainly troubling news for the 25-year-old, who had four recorded concussions during his eight-year stint as a Blueshirt.
Chytil was away from the team for a significant stretch last year due to a suspected head injury, as he was limited to just 10 regular season games before ultimately returning to the lineup down the stretch in the playoffs.
He also missed seven games earlier this season with the Blueshirts due to an upper-body injury, though a concussion ended up being ruled out.
Prior to what's shaping up to be a season-ending injury, the youngster was enjoying some success during his first few games with Vancouver, recording two goals and four assists in 15 contests since being acquired in the J.T. Miller deal.
Like the Rangers, the Canucks have eight games left and are on the outside looking in of the playoff picture.
