Former Seattle Kraken and current Tampa Bay Lightning forward Oliver Bjorkstrand has suffered a lower-body injury and will be out week-to-week.

It's unfortunate news for the 30-year-old, who's enjoying a strong start to his Lightning career.

"He’s really grown into his role with us, and hopefully we’ll have him back for playoffs at some point," Tampa Bay head coach Jon Cooper said Sunday, according to team reporter Benjamin Pierce.

In 18 games with the Lightning, Bjorkstrand has scored five goals and nine points. Prior to the trade, Bjorkstrand had recorded 16 goals and 37 points in 61 games with the Kraken.

The Lightning are hopeful they'll get Bjorkstrand back at some point in the playoffs, but with a likely matchup against the Florida Panthers in round one, missing Bjorkstrand's services will be a major blow and make winning increasingly difficult.
