Florida sophomore Alex Condon expected to test NBA predraft process

Florida men's basketball head coach Todd Golden said Saturday during a championship celebration that sophomore forward Alex Condon will test the 2025 NBA draft.

Condon was named to the All-SEC second team by USA TODAY, averaging 10.6 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.3 blocks on 49.3% shooting from the field. He ranked third in the conference in total rebounds (279) and seventh in blocked shots (49).

The 6-foot-11 forward scored in double figures 19 times to help the Gators to their third title, including a season-high 27 points and 10 rebounds on March 5 in a win over Alabama.

"I think Alex, his father and our staff are on the same page with what this next month or two are going to look like," Golden said at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium. "He's put himself in a position to be evaluated and considered for the draft and be a first-round pick. It's our job, obviously, to win games, to go as far as we can, but also to put our guys in position to have great professional careers."

Condon, born in Australia, is considered a potential first-round pick this year, with his offensive skill set in the paint and feel for the game. He also showcased his high-level passing ability throughout the year and has a knack for making hustle plays on the court.

The 20-year-old was slowed by an ankle injury sustained in the Sweet 16 and struggled at times with the increased physicality. However, he came up with several crucial plays for the Gators and was a key piece for them in some of the biggest moments of the tournament.

Condon will be able to gauge his draft stock in workouts and the combine on May 11-18 in Chicago, Illinois. He has until May 28 to withdraw from the draft and return to school.

The 2025 NBA draft will occur June 25-26 in New York City.
