Fayetteville, Valley, Trail earn middle baseball wins

Fayetteville PK-8 7, Oak Hill 2

In a March 27 contest, Fayetteville jumped out to an early 2-0 lead and went on to topple Oak Hill 7-2.

Raylen Stonestreet swung the big stick for the Pirates, going 2 for 4 with a triple and three RBIs. Thorpe Fussell went 2 for 4, and Tucker Bragg was 1 for 2.

For OHMS, B. McClain was 2 for 3, and T. Johns was 1 for 3.

Tucker Bragg was solid on the mound for Fayetteville, striking out nine Red Devils and giving up three hits and no earned runs while issuing one walk.

The pitching for Oak Hill was handled by McClain, I. Settle (six strikeouts) and B. Sizemore (seven strikeouts).

Valley PK-8 21, Fayetteville PK-8 6

On March 25, the Greyhounds plated 10 runs in the top half of the first inning to take control in a 21-6 victory over the Pirates.

Cedric Coping was 2 for 4 and drove in four runs to lead the Valley attack. Ryan Coleman was 2 for 3 with a double and three RBIs, Davon Brockman was 2 for 2 with one RBI, and Xavier Coping, Kaiden Wright and Gage Rhodes supplied a base hit apiece.

Dashawn Brockman and Hunter Rhodes drove in a run apiece.

For the Pirates, Thorpe Fussell was 2 for 3 and drove in three runs. Paxton Hopkins supplied a single in two at-bats.

Davon Brockman notched the win on the mound for the Greyhounds. In a five-inning stint, he yielded three hits and four earned runs, walking five and fanning six in the process.

Raylen Stonestreet, Hopkins and Isaiah Chapman combined on the mound for the Pirates.

Midland Trail 9, Fayetteville PK-8 4

Midland Trail broke open a 3-3 deadlock in the opening inning by pushing across six runs in the next three frames en route to a 9-4 conquest of Fayetteville PK-8 on Monday, March 24.

For the Patriots, Holden Grimmett and Brayden Neal each belted a double and drove in two runs. Eli Adkins, Nick Underwood and Connor Critchley added a base hit apiece, and Underwood and Brayden Campbell drove in a run each.

Raylen Stonestreet, Thorpe Fussell and Avram Adkins logged a hit apiece for the Pirates, with Stonestreet driving in a run.

Cam Pridemore pitched 4 2/3 innings, scattering three hits, walking one and striking out six, to secure the pitching win for Trail.

Tucker Bragg, Adkins and Paxton Hopkins combined to handle the pitching duties for Fayetteville. Bragg fanned six, Adkins three and Hopkins two.

Fayetteville didn't help its cause by committing nine errors.
