The Atlanta Falcons have brought back another key member of their secondary, re-signing veteran defensive back Dee Alford on Monday afternoon. Alford has served as the team's starting nickel cornerback for the last few seasons and now returns to Atlanta after testing the free agent market for a few weeks.
The contract terms have not been disclosed but it's likely a one-year deal for Alford. The 27-year-old has worked his way up from an undrafted free agent to a key member of Atlanta's secondary. In 48 career games, Alford has recorded one interception, 24 passes defended, 1.5 sacks and 104 solo tackles.
It didn't initially seem like Alford was going to return since the team opted against picking up his $3.2 million tender and let him test free agency. Falcons head coach Raheem Morris even discussed potential in-house options, including Clark Phillips III, to take over at nickel next season.
Instead, Alford is back and the Falcons will likely focus on upgrading their front seven in this year's draft. Check out every signing using our 2025 Falcons free agency tracker.
