Ethan Frey homers to give LSU baseball run rule victory

After a 3-0 weekend against Missouri, LSU baseball looked to keep the win streak going against New Orleans on Tuesday evening. Ethan Frey hit a solo shot in the bottom of the seventh to give LSU an 11-1 run-rule victory.

Jaden Noot has done a great job this season getting the Tigers out of some rough situations. On Tuesday, he was rewarded for that hard work with his first start of the year. New Orleans jumped on Noot in the top of the first inning with an RBI single to take a 1-0 lead. In the bottom of the first, LSU answered with a solo shot from Jared Jones to tie the game 1-1.

The run New Orleans scored in the top of the first inning was the only run it would score against Noot. He was pulled from the game after allowing one run on four hits, five strikeouts, and a walk spanning four innings of work. Jacob Mayers would enter in relief. Meanwhile, the LSU bats would catch fire and put the Tigers way out in front.

LSU bats get hot

In the bottom of the second inning, LSU would take the lead with a bases-loaded walk to take a 2-1 lead. At the bottom of the third inning, LSU put together its best inning of the night, scoring four runs. Cade Arrambide hit a two-run shot, Jones hit an RBI single, and Josh Pearson hit an RBI single to increase the LSU lead to 6-1.

In the bottom of the fifth inning, Ethan Frey extended the lead with a three-run homer to make it 9-1 Tigers after five innings.

In the bottom of the sixth, Jones hit an RBI double to extend the lead to 10-1. In the bottom of the seventh, Frey hit another homer. This time it was a solo shot that put the Tigers across the 10-run lead threshold and end the game.

With the win, LSU moves to 21-1 this season. The Tigers will be back in action on Friday night as the No. 2 LSU Tigers travel to take on the No. 5 Texas Longhorns in Austin. The first pitch for that game is scheduled for 7 PM.
