Emmry Ross, Molly Brown headline upcoming girls track and field season

Lenawee County girls track and field athletes earned six state titles last year and all six of those titles are back again this season.

Those six titles were split between two runners, Onsted senior Emmry Ross and Addison senior Molly Brown.

The two are going to headline what will be a strong 2025 girls track and field season:

Onsted's Emmry Ross runs in the 1,600 during the MHSAA Division 3 track and field regional at Madison.

Ross' swan song

Ross began her final season in incredible fashion, winning the 800-meter at the New Balance Nationals Indoor meet with a time 2:03. That's more than two seconds faster than any 800 time she's posted while running for the Wildcats in the outdoor season.

Last season, Ross earned four state championships between the 400, 800, 1,600 and 3,200 and earned the Division 3 runners-up title on her own. She became only the third girl to win four titles in a single state meet since Sami Mitchell did it for Reed City in 2012 and 2013.

Much like Mitchell in 2013, Ross will look to repeat the rare accomplishment. In total, Ross enters this season with seven state championships in hand. She's won the 400 all three seasons, the 800 twice and the 1,600 and 3,200 once.

Ross enters the season having never lost an 800 race and she's won every 400 since her first race at the Onsted Early Bird where she took second.

Brown back for more

Addison's Molly Brown won the 100, 200, high hurdles and intermediate hurdles during the Lenawee County Championships at Sand Creek.

What can Brown do for you? For Addison, apparently the answer is everything.

Brown will look to cap an incredible high school athletics career with her main sport as defending Division 4 high hurdles and intermediate hurdles champion. She also won the high hurdles in her sophomore season to give her three state titles entering the season.

But she does more than hurdles. She earned all-state honors in the 100 twice and once in the long jump.

Brown, who is a former Lenawee County Volleyball Player of the Year, played basketball and this season won a regional bowling championship, will look to add to her extensive medal collection. The Panthers' team has also doubled in size from last season and could be in the mix to be one of the top teams in the state with Brown leading the way.
