Could the Saints call the Eagles after news about injured QB Derek Carr?

The NFL is an arms race, and you can never have enough good quarterbacks. The Eagles have a factory, and Tanner McKee could be the most valuable asset heading into the 2025 NFL draft frenzy.

According to ESPN, news broke late Friday afternoon that Saints quarterback Derek Carr has a shoulder injury that could jeopardize his status for the 2025 season.

The Saints are scheduled to begin their offseason training program on Monday. Carr has not played since breaking several bones in his non-throwing hand in Week 14 against the New York Giants. He missed seven games in 2024 due to oblique and hand injuries, and the Saints started Spencer Rattler and Jake Haener in his place.

Moore was the offensive coordinator for Philadelphia's impressive Super Bowl run and has experience working with the Eagles' backup quarterback.

McKee, a 2023 sixth-round pick out of Stanford, waited for his moment, and in Week 17, his first game action would be one for the record books and a potential film on the big screen.

With Kenny Pickett nursing broken ribs, McKee became the first player in the NFL Draft era (since 1936) to have multiple touchdown passes in his NFL debut while attempting five or fewer passes.

The former Stanford quarterback and sixth-round pick finished 3-4 passing for 54 yards (13.5 avg) and two touchdowns, with a 156.2 rating.

The Saints hold the ninth pick in this month's NFL draft and have four quarterbacks: Carr, Haener, Rattler, and Ben DiNucci.  None of the three potential replacements is better than McKee, and the former sixth-round pick would cost just $1,076,630 in salary cap space.
