With NFL free agency largely behind us, Lance Zierlein of NFL.com is back with version 3.0 of his 2025 mock draft. So who does Zierlein have the Indianapolis Colts selecting this time?
Like many others out there, Zierlein has the Colts taking Penn State tight end Tyler Warren--a pick that makes a lot of sense, given Indianapolis' needs, although I will say, I do think an offensive line pick is very much in play at this point.
"I would love to go in a different direction with a roster that feels in need of a truly bold shakeup (drafting Shedeur Sanders?!)," Zierlein wrote, "but the Colts could use a big target at tight end with the mindset to fit in as a run blocker. Warren is a safe pick, but he's not a lock here."
The Colts need a much greater pass-catching presence at the tight end position, which Warren would provide. Last season, Warren eclipsed 100 receptions and went over 1,200 receiving yards.
However, his impact goes beyond that facet of the game. Warren is versatile and able to line up across the formation. He's also a very capable run-blocker. When an offense has that type of skill set available at tight end, it unlocks a layer of unpredictability because that player can fill a variety of roles, and that in turn keeps defenders guessing.
The big question for the Colts, who are one of six teams holding a private workout for Warren, is whether or not he will be available when they are picking. There are a lot of teams that would benefit from his skill set.
