SALEM — The Class AA girls and Class A boys each posted two victories Saturday in the 37th 3-Class Shootout All-Star Basketball Games in the McCook Central Auditorium.
The event featured high school senior boys and girls basketball players from each of the state's three classes.
Area players Adriana Ratigan of Northwestern, Class B girls; Krista Langager of Sisseton, Ava Hanson of Aberdeen Roncalli and Isabella Anderson of Milbank, Class A girls; Noah Kippley of Leola-Frederick Area, Bryon Laue and Jamison Keszler of Castlewood and Wyat James of Estelline-Hendricks, Class B boys; and Maverick Nelson of Sioux Valley, Class A boys were picked to play in the event.
Here's some highlights:
Class AA Girls 83, Class A Girls 79
Grace Peterson of Sioux Falls Washington scored 15 points, Logan Smidt of Brookings 14 and Mya Kochuten of Spearfish 13 to lead Class AA to victory. Julia Eggert of O'Gorman added nine points and six rebounds. Peterson also hauled in nine rebounds.
Class A MVP Sloane Keszler of St. Thomas More finished with 13 points and six assists. Langager contributed 11 points and six rebounds and Hanson 10 points. Cameryn Sommervold of Dakota Valley chipped in with nine points and seven rebounds.
Class AA Girls 80, Class B Girls 79
Kochuten earned Class AA MVP honors after a 19-point performance. Taaliyah Porter of Rapid City Stevens added 14 points, Peterson 12 and Eggert eight. Eggert also hauled in 13 rebounds and Peterson seven.
Kaylee Voelker of Colman-Egan produced 23 points to earn Class B MVP honors. Emma Marshall of Centerville tallied 21 points and six rebounds and Alexa Goertz of Sanborn Central-Woonsocket 11 points.
Class A Boys 131, Class AA Boys 128 OT
Dakota Valley's Logan Collette (26 points) and Luke Bruns (22 points, 14 rebounds and 13 assists) combined to lead Class A to the win. Benson Kieffer of Rapid City Christian finished with 19 points and Kyle Virtue of Custer 16.
Tommy Hoffman of Sioux Falls Washington had 28 points and 12 rebouns to earn MVP honors for Class AA. Dayler Segrist of Rapid City Stevens added 22 ...
