The Vancouver Canucks (37-29-14) play their second to last game of the season Monday when they welcome the San Jose Sharks (20-49-11). While both teams have already been eliminated from playoff contention, games like this are a great opportunity for young players to show why they deserve a spot on next season's roster. So far this year, Vancouver and San Jose have played three times, with the Canucks holding a perfect 3-0 record.

Monday could be a historic night as Quinn Hughes is just two points away from passing Alex Edler for the most points by a defenceman in franchise history. Vancouver's captain is up to 408 points in 431 games and is also one assist shy of 350 for his career. Considering Hughes' past success against the Sharks, it would not be surprising to see him have a multi-point effort and break Edler's record.

Players to Watch:

Linus Karlsson:

One of the young players looking to solidify their spot on next season's roster is Linus Karlsson. The 25-year-old has five points in 21 games but has had some success lately, finding the scoresheet in three of his past five outings. Already signed to an extension for 2025-26, Karlsson has shown in recent weeks that he can be an impactful bottom-six player at the NHL level.

Tyler Toffoli:

Tyler Toffoli is the type of player every NHL team needs. He recently hit the 30-goal mark for the third time in his career and has become a mentor for the younger players on San Jose's roster. Toffoli has been a Canucks killer throughout his career so no one should be surpised if he finds his way onto the scoresheet on Monday night.
